Retirement Properties Spotlight in Standish

Standish is about three miles northwest of Wigan and about two miles east of the M6. During the 19th century local coal mines became part of the Wigan Coal and Iron Company which provided employment until the pits were finally closed in the 20th century. Ashfield Park has areas of woodland, gardens and recreational facilities and there are a number of footpaths and cycling routes nearby.
