Humshaugh is a small village just off the military road and close to Hadrian's Wall famous for its associations with the scout movement. It was the perfect place for a scout camp and this is where Baden-Powell's boy scouts came in the early 20th century to explore the local area including Hexham Abbey and Houghton Castle as well as lengths of the wall. Chesters Roman Fort and Museum nearby is well worth a visit with with strtches of the wall still largely intact. Hexham is about seven miles to the south below the River Tyne.
Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service.
