Saxilby is an old village mentioned in Domesday as Saxebi and lies about six miles northwest of Lincoln. For much of the middle ages it remained a farming community expanding in the 20th century with a number of new housing developments. It has its own railway station situated on the Doncaster to Lincoln line and there are regular bus services to Lincoln, Gainsborough and Scunthorpe.
