Partridge Green is a small village off the A281 about two miles north-west of Henfield and developed in the 19th century with the coming of the railway from Horsham to Shoreham.
Henfield is mentioned in Domesday as Hamfelde with a small church and belonged to the Bishop of Chichester. St Peter's Church today has many fine brasses. The town lies about four miles northeast of Steyning just east of where the western and eastern Adur rivers meet. Henfield leisure centre at Northcroft has a fitness suite and the town has one of the oldest cricket clubs in the country. The famous cat house is at Pinchnose Green.
Claxton Court is situated just off the high street in Partridge Green about two miles north-west of Henfield.
