Horsted Keynes was mentioned in Domesday and lies about five miles from Haywards Heath and is a sought after village with its village green and pubs. It was once in an area noted for its iron working the remains of which can be seen in the local hammer ponds nearby. It is also famous for having hosted one of the earliest cricket matches in the early 17th century. The Bluebell Railway runs vintage steam trains from the village railway station and is popular with visitors.
