Cropston is a small village bordering the neighbouring village of Thurcaston and remained so for mush of the medieval ages. It has only recently expanded with new homes. Its Main street was renamed Station Road at the turn of the 19th century when Rothley station (just a mile or so) was opened on the Great Central Line providing easy access to Leicester. Bradgate Park lies just to the west of the village and the River Lin flows through it and on into Cropston reservoir and both are now a Site of Special Scientific interest.
