Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Coventry
Coventry is an old settlement and an Anglo-Saxon convent was erected nearby in the 7th century and in the 11th century a Benedictine Abbey was built around which the town began to grow. At the start of the annual Spirit of of Coventry Festival Lady Godivas's famous 11th century ride is re-enacted. The town really expanded in the 19th century with the engineering industry and the Museum of British Road Transport tells the city's part in the history of transport. Coventry suffered very badly in the Second World War through German bombing and Basil Spence's new Coventry Cathedral was completed in 1962.
