Bridgnorth is an old market town in the Severn Valley with the great red Sandstone cliff dividing Low Town from High Town. The tower of Bridgnorth Castle leans heavily having been underpinned during the Civil War. It was built in the early 12th century to defend the town from the Welsh. Today Bridgnorth is a popular tourist destination and the headquarters of the Severn Valley Railway which runs steam trains in the summer to Bewdley.
