Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Kings Langley
Kings Langley is an ancient market town with a long royal heritage being owned by several Queens. The moated manor house was bought by Queen Eleanor of Castile in the 13th century and she re-created it as a royal palace with a new vineyard. The first Duke of York was born at Langley Palace in the 14th century close to the remains of a Dominican friary, once the richest in the Kingdom. The town prospered throughout the middle ages due to its good arable land and farming is still important in the local economy though light industry is now the prominent activity.
