Retirement Properties Spotlight in Matlock

Matlock : Matlock was known as Maslach in Domesday and had a leadmine at Mestesforde. The town lies in the beautifully wooded Derwent Valley about nine miles south-west of Chesterfield at the south-eastern edge of the Peak District. The town developed in the 19th century after the hydrotherapy centre opened in Matlock Bank. Further south is Matlock Bath and the 'Heights of Abraham' so named after Wolfe's victory at Quebec in the 18th century. There are many interesting places to visit locally including Riber Castle and the Peak District Mining Centre.
