Eynsham was mentioned in Domesday known as Eglesham and was held from the Bishop of Lincoln and had a mill. Today it is a substantial village west of Oxford off the A40 and has good local shopping with a 14th century cross in the market square. Just south of the village, off the B4004, is the 18th century toll bridge at Swinford.
