Ewelme is a popular village about four miles northeast of Wallingford and once had a flourishing watercress business which succumbed to competition and regulation in the late 20th century. The church of St Mary the Virgin adjoins cloistered almshouses built in the 15th century by the Duke of Suffolk. To the west of the village lies Benson Airfield.
