Bromley : Bromley lies just to the north of Hayes and is about ten miles south-east of Charing Cross. The town has a large shopping area and two railway stations providing easy access to central London. There are several good restaurants, inns, a leisure centre and the Churchill theatre is well known. Bromley still retains its market originally granted in 1205. There are many parks and gardens and to the south of Hayes lies open countryside.
Hayes Street marks the centre of 'Old Hayes' with shops and Station Approach is now the main shopping area with small supermarkets and a post office, inns and restaurants. Hayes Railway Station has regular services to London. Two Prime Ministers, William Pitt the Elder and William Pitt the Younger, lived at Hayes Place now demolished.
