Keighley is situated at the confluence of the Rivers Aire and Worth south of Rombalds Moor. The Moor has many signs of stone age and bronze age settlement including cup and ring marks. The town is thought to derive its name from 'Cyhha's farm or clearing' and was known as Chichelai in Domesday.
