Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Huddersfield
Huddersfield was mentioned as Oderesfelt in Domesday and occupied a hill site in the Colne Valley on the edge of the Pennines. It developed as a major centre in the 18th and 19th centuries and is now best remembered for its contribution to the cloth industry and there are exhibits and artefacts in the Tolson Memorial Museum. The art gallery has paintings by Turner, Constable and L S Lowry.
