Halifax is a minster town and was once an important clothing and manufacturing centre in the old West Riding of Yorkshire. It has many interesting buildings including the town hall designed by Sir Charles Barry of House of Parliament fame. Also the 15th century Shibden Hall houses the West Yorkshire Folk Museum and the Bankfield Museum and Art Gallery has many exhibits.
