Bentham was mentioned in Domesday as Benetain with a church and belonged to the King. It is now made up of two settlements, High Bentham and older Low Bentham and is situated on the River Wenning close to the Forest of Bowland. The town has a strong sense of community with shows such as the Carnival procession and Agricultural Show to together with events held in various pubs and the Bentham Golf Club lies to the north of the town.
