Ackworth is situated about three miles southwest of Pontefract on the River Went and was mentioned in Domesday as Aceuurde. The area was settled by the Romans and then Saxons, Danes and Norse. It is thought the village cross was built in the 14th century and the Ackworth plague likely to be 18th century. Today the village has several shops.
Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service and garden.
