Retirement Properties Spotlight in Edgbaston

Edgbaston is now an attractive suburb of Birmingham about two and a half miles from the city centre and like Birmingham was mentioned in Domesday and known as Celboldestone. It probably derived its name from 'Ecgbald's farmstead'. Birmingham in the Middle Ages was a small market town surrounded by forests and common land. It expanded hugely with the Industrial Revolution and became the centre of Britain's canal system.
