Retirement Properties Spotlight in Framwellgate Moor

Durham is beautifully sited on a prominent sandstone hill surrounded on three sides by the River Wear. It is an ancient city guarding the approaches to the south and for many years was ruled as a County Palatinate with its own army and priveleges. The magnificent cathedral was begun in the 11th century and is much larger than the adjoining castle. Today they both make a UNESCO World Heritage Site. University College, part of the university, is housed in the castle.
