Great Yarmouth : Great Yarmouth is built on a peninsula and has a seafront almost four miles long. It was mentioned in Domesday and in the Middle Ages was an important shipbuilding centre and gradually grew to become one of England's major herring fishery ports. Inevitably the Victorians discovered the town's fine sandy beach and in time came amusement arcades, piers, and a Marina Leisure Centre.
