Neston is situated close to the estuary of the River Dee by Gayton Sands. This river flows on into the Irish Sea accross a vast expanse of sandy foreshore rich in plant and birdlife. Ships used to regularly ply their way to Ireland and Nelson‘s Lady Hamilton lived in the nearby village of Ness. Today Neston has a good range of shops and there is a railway station.
