Middlewich is a small town in an area long settled and lies at the confluence of the rivers Dane, Croco and Wheelock. The town was one of the major Roman sites for salt production and this has remained an important local industry up until the 20th century. The town has a good range of shops and is a popular commuter area due to its excellent communications.
