Knutsford : Knutsford is an attractive old town with bistros and bars and a lively centre. It is believed to have been so named after the fording of a local stream by king Canute in the eleventh century but by the time of Domesday nothing is recorded other than ‘waste‘. By the eighteenth century it had become the fourth largest town in the county. Today it has all the facilities and amenities of a successful modern town.
