West Byfleet is a large village just west of the M25 between Woking and Weybridge. The area was rural until the late 19th century with several old and well established smaller villages nearby such as Pyrford to the south which was mentioned in Domesday. Byfleet itself is mentioned as having a church, a mill and a fishery. Today the village has several inns, restaurants and shops and is primarily a residential area with several golf courses serving the larger centres nearby.
