Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Hackbridge
Hackbridge is named after a crossing on the River Wandle and consists mostly of fairly recent housing and lies about two miles northeast of Sutton. Wallington to the south is a little over a mile away and was mentioned in Domesday as Waletone and its name probably derives from 'Farmstead or village of the Britons'. It is situated at Wallington Bridge over the the same river and remained a small village to the west of Croydon until the 19th century and the coming of the railways.
