Grayshott : Grayshott was known as Grauesseta in the 12th century and possibly derived its name from 'Corner of land near a grove'. The village is situated just to the east of the main A3 Guildford to Portsmouth road and about a mile from Hindhead on the Surrey Sussex border. Boundary Road which runs through the village marks the boundary between the two. The village has shops and unusually two village greens near its centre. There are excellent walks on Ludshott Common about a mile to the west and part of the East Hampshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
