Ash is about one and a half miles to the east of Aldershot and has a mainline railway station. At the time of Domesday it belonged to Chertsey Abbey along with Normandy to the east. Today it is very much overshadowed by its neighbour Aldershot, separated by the busy A331 north/south bypass.
