Town

Midhurst : The delightful market town of Midhurst is situated on the River Rother and sits at the foot of the South Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has an attractive centre with a number of period streets providing a range of shops including supermarkets, chemists and a post office. There are several restaurants and some excellent hotels including the Angel and the Spread Eagle.

Well known for its carnivals and festivals Midhurst also offers regular amateur dramatic productions at the Grammar School and the famous Chichester Festival Theatre is within easy reach. The Grange Centre offers sports and leisure facilities, a community centre and regular fairs and exhibitions.

Cowdray Park, the estate of the Viscount Cowdray and its ruins form an attractive backdrop. Cowdray House, an Elizabethan mansion, was burnt down in 1793. Today Cowdray Park hosts the 'Veuve Cliquot Gold Cup' which is one of the premier polo competitions in the country. Nearby towns include Petworth, Chichester, Petersfield and Haslemere, the latter having an excellent train service to London.

Facilities : These include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, lift, communal lounge, laundry and guest facilities.

Communications

Midhurst is about seven miles due south of Haslemere at the crossroads of the Sussex Downs with Petersfield eight miles to the west and Petworth six miles to the east along the A272.
