Headington is mentioned in Domesday as Hedintone and had two mills and five fisheries and by the sixteenth century had become Heddendon originally named after a man called Hedena. Most of the Oxford Colleges were built of Headington stone and the church has a fine Norman chancel arch.

Headington is a little over a mile from Oxford City Centre and less than a mile form the A40 and the A41/42 Ring Road. The M40 at J8A is about six miles and the M4 at J13 about 18 miles. London is about 55 miles.
