There are many places to visit nearby. Cirencester is nine miles to the west and has a modern shopping centre and the world-renowned Corinium Museum. The pretty riverside village of Bibury with its ancient terraced cottages of Arlington Row is five miles to the north, and four miles to the east is Lechlade, the highest navigable point for boats on the River Thames.

Road communications in the area are very good with a series of main trunk roads connecting at the Roman town of Cirencester which is nine miles to the west. Swindon, 12 miles away, offers an excellent Inter-City train service to London (Paddington 56 minutes).
