The Isle of Wight has a population of just over 129,000 and offers an excellent quality of life in a vibrant community. In the sixteenth century Henry VIII caused fortifications to be built at Cowes, Sandown and at Yarmouth and only those at Yarmouth survive in their entirety. Yarmouth itself is one of the oldest towns on the island and is set around a square with a market once a month.
