Red Funnel car ferries take about fifty minutes from Southampton and they go to East Cowes which is linked to Cowes by a chain ferry known locally as the floating bridge. International Liners and European Ferries dock at Southampton and Portsmouth which makes the Isle of Wight the perfect base for travelling to and from Europe.
