Penhaven Court is situated close to shops off Island Crescent to the west of the town centre. The development consists of 43 flats with communal facilities completed in 1989.

Newquay had an important fishing industry, especially pilchards, but ships also traded with America and reurning vessels had to be guided into the port by gigs with oarsmen. There are still gig races to day and are a major attraction with some of the boats dating from the 19th century.

Newquay is about 17 miles west of Bodmin and about 12 miles southwest of Wadebridge. The main A30 runs about six miles to the southwest of the town. St Austell on the south coast is about 15 miles.
