Heathfield is an old market town lying on The Ridgeway, an ancient route linking the South Downs with the Weald. It recieved its first charter to hold a market in the early 14th century and today has several fairs and markets throughout the year including the annual Heffle Cuckoo Fair held in April. The town has a good range of shops with banks, supermarkets, grocer, butcher and baker.
