Ilkley is set in the Wharfe Valley surrounded by beautiful countryside just six miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Roman fort of Olicana once stood close to the site of All Saints Church and inside are three fine 9th century Anglo-Saxon crosses. For much of the middle ages Ilkley was a small farming community and then in the 19th century the curative powers of the waters led to the town becoming one of the major health resorts in Victorian England.

Ilkley is about 11 miles north of Bradford and about 15 miles southwest of Harrogate. Otley is about six miles and Keighley eight miles. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is to the northwest.
