The 20 apartments at Hays Park are built to the west of Hays House and each has a nurse-call system in each room that‘s monitored day and night. Most apartments have French windows opening on to a small private garden or balcony overlooking the courtyard which has lawns, pergolas and a fountain pool.

In 1288, Hays House was the home of Thomas en le Hay, and the estate seems to have been continuously occupied - most probably by yeoman farmers - since that date until the 19th century when the main part of the present house was rebuilt. In 1860, Hays was bought by the Marquis of Westminster and eventually passed to his son-in-law, Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart, in whose family it remained until 1920.

Hays Park is situated three miles north of Shaftesbury, the ‘Shaston‘ of Thomas Hardy‘s Wessex, on the A350 one mile south of East Knoyle. It is 102 miles by car to London via the A303 and M3. Places of interest nearby are Salisbury (19 miles), Longleat (13 miles), the Gardens of Stourhead (10 miles), and Wincanton (15 miles). Trains can be taken from Gillingham (6 miles) or Tisbury, with regular trains to London (Waterloo) taking approximately two hours.
