Woodbridge Gardens is situated off Oxclose Road and consists of 39 flats with communal facilities completed in 2009. There is a mixture of tenures including leasehold.

Washington Old Hall in the original village was once the home of the Washington family and Goerge Washington became Americas first president. Penshaw Monument stands on top of Penshaw Hill three miles to the southeast and is one of the Northeasts best known landmarks. Lambton Castle is across the Wear to the west of Penshaw and on the north bank the Wildfowl Trust maintains a 100 acre park where visitors can see some of the worlds many water birds against a background of beautifully landscaped surroundings.

Washington lies about seven miles southeast of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and about the same distance west of Sunderland. Chester-le-Street to the south is about three miles and Stanley six miles. The A1(M) at Junction 64 is about two miles. Fast trains to London (Kings Cross) take just over three hours and ten minutes.
