Brunswick Gardens Village is situated off Junction Road close to local shops and within walking distance of Woodhouse station. The development consists of 217 flats and bungalows with communal facilities completed in 2008. There is a mixture of tenures including leasehold.

The cathedral was originally the town's parish church and has many fine monuments in the Shrewsbury Chapel. The remains of Beauchief Abbey are to be found to the southwest of the city and the restored timber-framed 15th century Bishop's House stands by Meersbrook Park. Places of interest to visit include the Graves Art Gallery, the City Museum and restored Mappin Art Gallery, and the 19th century Cutlers Hall.

Sheffield lies about eight miles southwest of Rotherham and about nine miles north of Chesterfield. Buxton is about 19 miles and Mosborough seven miles. The M1 at Junction 31 is about seven miles and fast trains to London (St Pancras) take just over two hours.
