The town is well known for The Lanes, a tightly packed area of Jewellers and Antique shops in hidden away alleys with tempting things to buy. The colourful Marina is one of the largest in the country with apartments shops and restaurants, a haven for the yachting fraternity and water sports.

The star of Brighton is undoubtedly the Pavilion next door to the Brighton Museum, which was transformed by John Nash in the early part of the nineteenth century into a fantstic eastern extravaganza. Set low amongst the buildings now surrounding it is a major attraction and adds to Brighton‘s alluring charm. Elsewhere there are imposing 19th century hotels, an electric railway, art galleries, fine parks and of course a long shingle beach.

Brighton is on the south coast just south of the main A27 which runs from Eastbourne (20 miles) in the east to Portsmouth (45 miles) in the west. Newhaven is about ten miles and Lewes about nine miles. Worthing is also about ten miles and Burgess Hill ten miles. The M23 at J11 is about twenty miles. Fast trains to London (London Bridge) take less than an hour. Shoreham Airport is about six miles.
