Home Farm is now a combination of converted farm buildings and new retirement properties all built to Cognatum's exacting standards. Originally built as a model farm the first stage of the development involved the creation of 12 new cottages designed to complement the architectural style of the old farm buildings. The development is situated in the ancient village of Iwerne Minster on the eastern edge of the Blackmore Vale in Dorset.

In the Domesday Book, Shaftesbury Abbey is recorded as holding the Manor of Euwenmynstr with a population of about 200 people. The surrounding area of Cranborne Chase was renowned from Norman times for the hunting of deer and other game.

Iwerne Minster is on the A350 Poole/Warminster Road, almost equidistant between Shaftesbury to the north and Blandford Forum to the south, about six and five miles respectively. It borders Cranborne Chase and Salisbury along the A354 is about 23 miles to the north east. The A303 is about seven miles north of Shaftesbury. Trains to Salisbury take about half an hour.
