| The Complexo Integrado de Saude da Luz consists of three elements: The residential units dedicated to senior people who are independent and those who need a little more support in their daily living; the Nursing Home with 150 beds and the generalist Hospital. There are 115 independent and assisted living units with most of the common facilities situated on the ground floor. Some of the apartments have spectacular views over protected parkland. There are lounges, libraries, rest rooms, dining and breakfast rooms, fitness studios, hairdressing salons, roof gardens all with first class security. The Nursing Home and Hospital are opposite each other and adjacent to the retirement development and local supermarkets are nearby.

| Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is situated on the right bank of the River Tagus where it flows into the Atlantic. The city is built over a number of low hills and valleys with numerous parks and gardens. It is the westernmost of European capitals with a mild climate but sometimes very hot summers with corresponding droughts and not a few forest fires as in 2005. It was from this city that the Spanish Armada sailed in 1588. Today the city is as vibrant as ever and remains the centre of the Portuguese world with sophisticated shopping malls and art galleries, museums, libraries and is still the principal port for embarkation to South America.

| Lisbon fronts the River Tagus and extends for several miles along the shore of the river. Buses during the week are frequent and the old trams still run. The Lisbon Metro has four main lines and the airport is about four miles from the city centre. Trains to Cascais to the west from Cais do Sodre station take about forty-five minutes and trains to Sintra leave from Rossio station in Praca dos Restauradores.
