Les Milandes were originally owned by the American cabaret artist Josephine Baker whose home was the Chateau des Milandes. She conquered Paris in the twenties and thirties with ‘la Revue Negre‘. Near to Sarlat, Domme and Les Eyzies in the Perigord Noir, Les Milandes is ideally situated both to explore the wealth of local history and culture or simply to relax and enjoy the river or swimming pools. The Dordogne is famous for such specialities as foie grass and truffles as well as its local and neighbouring vineyards and there are many restaurants nearby to enjoy. Towns within a six mile radius include the medieval Castelnaud-la-Chapelle with its Chateau and museum, Beynac with Chateau, shops restaurants, hotels, Roque Gageac with church, boat exursions, restaurants, the hilltp bastide town of Domme, and St Cyprien with its supermarkets and all amenities.
