Bexhill-on-Sea lies to the west of Pevensey Bay about five miles from Hastings and between them both is St Leonard‘s. The area has long attracted visitors and the retired with holiday amenities and long stretches of parade walks and a crescent shaped bay. Bexhill was largely built as a seaside resort as was St Leonards, principally to cater for the demand for healthy lifestyles in the early 19th century. The De La Warr Pavilion was reopened in 2005. At its original opening it was the first example of modern architecture in a British public building.
Today you still get the breezy winds along the cliff tops and lots of sun. There are many places of interest nearby including the moated brick built Herstmonceaux Castle and Gardens, the sprawling Pevensey Castle, once a Roman fort, St Clements Caves at Hastings and Battle Abbey built where King Harold fell.
